I woke up, the blinding sunlight greeting me. I got dressed and went downstairs, the smell of the crispy bacon guiding me into the kitchen. ‘Hello?’ I asked but was deafened by the silence. I shrugged and went over to the frying pan, I slapped the bacon between two huge lumps of bread. ‘Now that’s what I call a breakfast’

As I sat down I heard a roar a bang a whimper then nothing, I bolted out the door and couldn’t believe my eyes, Bruno, my Labrador lying down covered in blood be it his own or something else’s it doesn’t matter, he wasn’t moving, the air seemed strange, oddly still. I heard heavy breathing, I turned on one foot and was face to stomach with a 10 foot Orc. Time seemed to slow down as he swung his club at me. I rolled out of the way, and dashed inside. I ran up to my room grabbed my sword and shield. Creeping up to my bedroom window I saw the Orc kneeling over Bruno’s corpse, I opened the window jumped out and slammed my sword into his back. Time slowed down again, I could feel my adrenaline pumping, the Orc screamed in agony and flung me into the wall of the house. The concrete felt cool as the blood dripped down my torso. Struggling to stand I picked up my sword, and pointing it at the ugly beast in front of me, I threw it, straight at him. The Orc, flailing his bludgeon around, attacking at random like a cornered wild animal, was on his last legs. I picked up my shield and charged. Jumping and rolling to avoid the brutal attacks I got hold of my sword taking it out if the Orc as if he were a sheath, and slashing left, right and centre. The Orc fell to his knees, it was raining blood, but it felt good!

I went over to Bruno, picking him up and bringing him down the garden. I remember the days we’d spend playing in the fields or fishing on the lake. God! I miss him already. I went back to the house to tend to my wounds, I noticed that my shield was heavily damaged as it was only made of wood. I checked the Orc for supplies, I found thirty Ruppees which was strange as Orcs don’t use shops. Realising that my mother was still missing, I decided to go into the lost woods to look for her. I can remember as a child being warned to stay away from the lost woods, because if you get lost there’s next to no chance of getting out. Legends speak of a child of the woods who plays tricks on travellers passing through, the skull kid.

As I entered the wood the air fell silent, a creepy stillness was about the place, no birds singing or even any movement in the leaves. In the distance I could hear the Skull kid’s repetitive song, I tried to ignore it but it was coming in from every direction. Surrounding me, embracing me, I couldn’t escape, no matter what way I headed the music got louder, closer, piercing into my head.
I became panic stricken, I knew this was it. Dancing on a branch of a tree, the gaunt silhouette confronted me. The skull kid was grinning, insanely joyful, but at the same time, expressionless.
He blew on his root like horn, and, as if from no where, marionettes appeared, they where made of the trees and hovered inches above the ground. The skull kid laughed and disappeared. The weird puppets of the forest surrounded me, drawing my sword and holding it out straight behind me I charged my attack, and spinning violently I let my fury loose destroying all the marionettes in a single circular sweep.

The music began again but this time it had a direction, a purpose, to guide me to the skull kid. It was like a twisted game of hide and seek where I was on every time, and every time I would get bombarded by those bloody puppets! Eventually I sneaked up behind the skull kid and with one swing of my sword he… He disappeared in a cloud of smoke, then reappearing on the far tree in front of me. ‘I had fun’ he shouted ‘catch you later’. Again he disappeared in a veil of smoke. The air lifted life returned to the forest, I sat down on a rock trying to comprehend what just happened. It seemed like a dream, the forest had become bright, the sun charging its way through the branches in a struggle to reach the ground. A beam of light shone in front of me, there was a loud piercing ringing, the beam of light seemed to condense, further and further, I shielded my eyes, then, it stopped. To my excitement, and utter bewilderment, a treasure chest lay on the ground in front of me. ‘Where did it come from?’ I asked honestly expecting someone to answer. I could feel the curiosity overwhelming me, ‘Just one peak’ I tried to pry open the chest with my hands but to no avail. Taking out my sword I prised it under the lid and forced it open, lying at the bottom was a simple wooden slingshot, similar to the one I used to play with as a kid. The great thing about sling shots was that almost anything could be used as ammo.

` As I entered Hyrule Field at the edge of the forest I only began to realise how vast this world really is! Legends speak of a great hero that used to roam these lands wielding ‘The Blade of Evils Bane’ Although no one believes this anymore I still think the story holds some water. As I stumbled out into the open, the fresh air filling my lungs, a large tube like creature appeared, it began sucking in all the air around me, I could feel myself becoming lighter, and lighter, until ‘ARGHHHH!!’ I was inside the beast, it was dark and humid, the liquid inside the creature was burning my skin. I had to escape but there was no way out, there wasn’t enough room to draw my sword, and my shield seemed to of disappeared, the harder I struggled the tighter the stomach of the swine became. This was the end, all hope was lost. I heard the distinctive ‘ping’ of a sword being drawn, I could see light over me, the creature had its mouth open and was sucking something else in. ‘NOT TODAY!’ a muffled voice shouted from outside. YAHHHHH! A sword sliced through the beast which squealed and writhed on the ground.

I was lying on the ground, ‘Need a hand?’ I looked up and saw a tall dark man with red hair standing over me, ‘Here’ he picked me up, ‘What was that thing?’ ‘It was a Like-like, the suck up unsuspecting warriors, after that there is very little hope of escape…. Where you headed?’ He asked me, ‘I’m planning to go to castle town, I need supplies.’ ‘I’m headed there now, let me give you a lift’ The dark man plucked some grass from the earth and placed it in his hands, He began to whistle a melodic tune, Galloping could be heard in the distance, a horse was approaching. ‘Whats you name stranger?’ the man asked with a glint in his eye. ‘Bo’ I replied. ’Bo eh? I’m Ocho, I come from Gerudo Valley from the west, I have my own business to attend to. He left me at the gate to Castle town and Galloped into the distance…….
